Zegna's Eminence Grise

Jamie Dornan for Ermenegildo Zegna's new advertising campaign
Zegna's Stefano Pilati drew his sartorial inspiration for the Spring 2014 collection and the related advertising campaign from the concept of the eminence grise, the shadowy yet powerful figures lurking behind centers of power. The term was originally coined in reference to 17th Century's Francois Leclerc Du Tremblay, Cardinal's Richelieu's consigliere. The term also provides a nod to Zegna's target audience of impeccably-dressed men of influence.
The collection carries the house's trademark tailored silhouettes and fine fabrics. The advertising campaign, shot by photography star couple Inez and Vinoodh, feature rising film star and model, Jamie Dornan, soon to be starring in, aptly enough, the film version of 50 Shades of Grey.
