An introspective eye on Italy

Il MAXXI, Rome's Museum of 21st Century Art, whose building was designed by star architect Zaha Hadid, is currently hosting an exhibit for the late Luigi Chirri, one of Italy's most renowned photographers. "How to think for images," Chirri once asked, and in his question rests his approach to photography and the world. His work was introspective and sought meaning in everyday elements, which when frozen by the camera lens, took on an added layer of depth and melancholy. The exhibit, running at the MAXXI until October, groups Chirri's work in three areas: Icons, Landscapes and Architecture, all brought together by his signature gaze.
